Sq Strong Women

Bridie Sweeney – One of Tallaght’s Most Familiar Faces

My name is Bridie Sweeney and I am 91 years of age. I was born in Tallaght and have lived here my whole life.

I suppose over the years I have seen it all. The opening of The Square 32 years ago with Taoiseach Charles Haughey, I was here for that and met him that day and even the long awaited Penneys.

I have five children, 10 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. My husband Gerry passed away 25 years ago, I got married at 21 and would have been 70 years married this year. We were very happy together.

Rachel Lynch, Square Media Team

I am Rachel, I’m 30 and from Saggart. I work with the social media team here at The Square and have been here 10 years.

Straight from college, I began working here with the InTallaght Magazine covering all the upcoming events in The Square, new openings, along with all the news in the centre. Over time things changed and social media became far more popular than print so I moved into that area of work.

I have seen so many changes when it comes to social media, every few months there is a change and it keeps us all on our toes.

Fiona Power, Commercial Operations Manager

I’m Fiona, I’m 39 and I am the Commercial Operations Manager here at The Square.

My job is a very varied role, from marketing, events, sponsorship, community relations, social media, commercial activity and also management for the general running of the Centre.

I have worked in various creative roles within retail, media and events so this role just brings everything in nicely together.

Jade CorriganCar Park Supervisor / Security

I am Jade, I’m 28 and from Jobstown. I’m Car Park Supervisor and also work alongside security. I am here nearly 3 years, and I love it.

I am in a job that is mostly dominated by men. There is only a handful of women in these roles. I do a lot of the work from behind the scenes with the control room with the cameras and then I also help out on the floor.

It balances out great with the team here, and I get on great with all the lads here too.
